Pioneer Mechanical offers a laser alignment system that is fast and extremely accurate. By using laser alignment, problem analysis is simplified and equipment can be accurately measured and aligned in a fraction of the time that it would take using traditional, older alignment methods. Pioneer's experienced technicians have performed laser alignments on machinery ranging from 50 to 2000-HP motors and pump combinations. All rotating equipment must be aligned in order to increase the equipment Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF). Misalignment of equipment can occur from vibration, thermal effects, poor foundations, equipment accidents or equipment overhauls. When misalignment occurs, Pioneer Mechanical will document the "as found" and "as left" alignment readings with the shim changes and horizontal moves at each machinery foot. Pioneer will then produce a standardized report for your company that documents the alignment readings.
For misalignment caused by thermal expansion, Pioneer will laser-align the machinery "cold" by starting the equipment and running it until the operating temperature is reached. Once this temperature is reached the laser is quickly set-up, "hot" alignment readings are recorded and documented for future reference and the equipment is then "realigned." When the equipment needs realignment the documented readings will be used and "cold" alignment will be performed.
